A Hint of Green

During the peak of the Pandemic, I needed a creative outlet and I found it through creating a small business.

Pictured above is me with my first packaged orders. The digital art drawn on top of the image shows some of the designs I would paint.

A Hint of Green was a successful small online business I ran from my bedroom in 2020. I set up an account through Etsy and I budgeted and bought materials. Thus, A Hint of Green was born. I hand-painted pots and crocheted little hanging planters to make plants that could hang from your rear-view mirror, sit on a desk, or be hung anywhere. The picture above is me sending off my first three sales and some of the designs I would paint on the pots. My store gained some traction, and I started sending out my little hand-painted pots globally. Although I decided to end my shop when the school year started, I had close to 100 sales, a five-star rating, and a stamp of "Top Shop for Gifts." I learned so many lessons along the way. I loved running my shop and I fully plan on reopening it when I have the time to do so. I gained a great amount of confidence in myself, I learned that people were interested in buying my art, and that I could still have a creative outlet even if I didn't want to do art full-time. I'm hopeful that college will be an opportunity for me to bring A Hint of Green back into motion. Having a laptop would be so helpful because I would be able to have a platform to access my website on and would be able to quickly communicate with customers and make changes to my site. Deciding to start an online business truly taught me so much and I know I can use those marketing and technical skills in the future to apply them to my career. Below are some more pictures of my shop.

This is an example of what I would sell! The cow print is painted on and the hanging fixture was done by hand. This was a custom color someone had requested.

This is my logo that I designed on a free drawing app. I printed these as stickers for my packaging and used the logo on my website.

This is what a listing on my website looked like. I took a screenshot of this on my phone when my page started to gain traction. Pictured are examples of my product and the patterns I could paint.
